it takes a while for the body to adjust, but it will end up evening out. I used to have this problem bad all over my face and neck. It shouldn't be more then a week or so, if the problem persists consider a dermatologist for a scrub or lotion.

For men it is a good idea to use a scrub that kinda roughs up their face in between shaving. Also making sure the razor is sharp.

the condition might be called pseudofolliculitis barbae. but it's hard to say without actually seeing it. difficult to treat, i'm not sure if the VA will be able to do much.
